Resuscitative Endovascular Balloon Occlusion of the Aorta (REBOA) is a simple concept that involves fishing a catheter through a femoral artery into the descending aorta. There a balloon is inflated, occluding all flow through the descending aorta. This is useful in uncontrolled hemorrhage in a location inferior of the aortic arch and can be performed rapidly. Here's the case report of the first known pre-hospital REBOA (performed by London HEMS). The patient was a long fall victim with profound hemorrhagic shock from a pelvic fracture. He survived without any neurological deficits. Sadek, S., Lockey, D. J., Lendrum, R. A., Perkins, Z., Price, J., & Davies, G. E. (2016).
